Chocolate Peanut Butter Bowl Cake

This is not like any other microwave cake! Seriously microwave cake is gross and has a weird texture, but honestly this one is different. This one is addicting, has real cake like yet gooey texture that goes perfect with a scoop of vanilla icecream. Normally you make these cakes in mugs, hence the name "mug cake", but Kalvin and I have discovered this is way easier to make and eat when it's in a bowl. So we've named them "bowl cakes". This recipe makes 1 bowl cake which is the perfect amount for two people to share or a large helping for a very hungry person. Seriously try this cake, the whole process takes about 3 minutes and then you have delicious chocolately-ness.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bowl Cake

adapted from Mel's Kitchen Cafe

INGREDIENTS:
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
5 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 egg
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips - I love using cinnamon chips
1 tablespoon peanut butter
Dash of vanilla and salt

DIRECTIONS:
Whisk all the ingredients together with a fork in a large mug or bowl (bowl is easiest) until smooth. Sometimes depending on the egg the batter will be different consistencies. Add a little bit more oil if the batter is too thick, it should be about brownie batter consistency. Microwave the cake on high until puffed, about 1 minute and 30-45 secs, watching carefully as microwaves can vary in strength. The middle will look somewhat gooey, but whatever you do, DO NOT OVERCOOK, it's the overcooking that results in tough nasty cake.

Mix with a fork

Done after about 1 1/2 minutes, looks gooey but really its all cooked.
