Chocolate Revel Bars

These are so delicious. I remember when my mom  made them for the first time one summer, they were requested every week after that.

Chocolate Revel Bars

1 cup butter softened
2 cups packed brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
2 tsps vanilla
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour (I did half wheat)
3 cups rolled oats

1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup chopped pecans
2 tsp vanilla

Set aside 2 TBS of the butter. In a large mixing bowl beat the remaining butter with electric mixer for 30 seconds. Add brown sugar and baking soda. Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Beat in eggs and 2 teas vanilla. Stir in flour. Stir in oats.

For filling, in a medium saucepan combine the reserved 2 TBS of butter, chocolate chips, and sweetened condensed milk. Cook over low heat until chocolate melts, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Stir in nuts and 2 tsp vanilla. (I forgot the vanilla and nuts this time).

Press 2/3 of the oat mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Spread the filling evenly over the oat mixture. Dot the remaining oat mixture on top.

Bake in a 350* oven for 25 minutes or until top is light brown. Cool and cut.

These can be frozen for up to 3 months.......... if they even make it to the freezer!
